The vegetable called Romanesco might not be instantly recognizable to most people, but it’s a very useful and healthy food option. Some of its names include the Roman cauliflower, Romanesco broccoli, Romanesque cauliflower, and BroccoloRomanesco. This vegetable is from the species known as Brassica oleracea, and is in the form of a flower bud (edible). While it’s related to both the cauliflower and the broccoli family, Romanesco is usually characterized by a firmer texture than both these vegetables. The flavor of the bud is also distinctive, sometimes being described as a delicate taste with a nutty undertone.
