Alexia Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato fries tend to come with a health halo: because they’re made with sweet potatoes, people automatically think they’re healthier than white fried potatoes.

With most sweet potato fries, that’s not the case. Deep frying any product, and then salting the heck out of it quickly reduces the food’s nutritional benefits.

But Alexia Sweet Potato Fries are quite a different story. I’d been hearing about these special frozen fries for years, and finally tried a bag out for myself.

For frozen fries, these are a fantastic fiber find! One serving (12 pretty big size fries) nets you 140 calories, 5 grams fat (none of which is saturated or trans fat), 140 mg sodium, and 3 g dietary fiber.

You pop them in an oven at 425 degrees F, cook for 18-20 minutes, and voilĂ , fancy fries in a matter of minutes! I found that broiling for the last 2-3 minutes crunches the fries up nicely.

These sweet potato fries are the perfect blend of sweetness from the potatoes with a slightly salty taste you expect from fries. Not overwhelmingly salty, or soggy, which makes these fries an ideal convenience food.

Of course you can always make your own sweet potato fries – but if you’re not so inclined, Alexia does a great job for you instead.
